Frequently
Asked Questions
What are
enzymes?
Enzymes
are found in every cell of every living plant and animal, including
humans. Enzymes are biocatalysts; which means that they either
begin a reaction or cause a reaction to speed up. Without enzymes
life would not exist.
How do
enzymes work?
Enzymes
work by virtue of their shape. An enzyme molecule can be compared,
in shape at least, to many short strings of pearls (amino acids)
strung together. This long string folds in on itself as certain
sequences of amino acids (pearls) are more attracted to each
other than to other sequences, thus giving the enzymes a specific
shape.
At one
point on the surface of this string of pearls there exists something,
which looks like a keyhole. This is called the "active
site" on the enzyme. When matched with its specific coenzyme
(a vitamin, mineral, or trace element) this "lock"
has the exact inverse contour of the "key" which is
contained in the molecule of the enzyme's "substrate"
(the molecule that the enzyme wants to transform into a different
molecule). When the substrate appears, it inserts the "key"
into the "lock." The molecular structure of the substrate
is transformed into a different molecular structure and both
enzyme and the newly transformed molecule go on their merry
ways.
What is
a digestive enzyme?
A digestive
enzyme breaks down the proteins, fats and carbohydrates in food
during the digestive process allowing the body to better utilize
the food you eat.
What is
a proteolytic enzyme?
The proteolytic
enzyme digests protein. Some examples of proteolytic enzymes
are protease, serrapeptase, bromelain, and papain.
What is
a lipase enzyme?
Lipase
enzymes digest fat.
What is
an amylase enzyme?
Amylase
enzymes digest carbohydrates.
What is
systemic enzyme therapy?
Systemic
enzyme therapy is utilizing enzyme supplementation to increase
the enzymes throughout your body to assist in restoring the
body to health
What else
are enzymes used for?
Enzymes
are widely used in the food industry. Enzymes are also essential
in the manufacture of beer.
Are enzymes
considered "anti-inflammatory drugs"?
Proteolytic
Enzymes are considered anti-inflammatory agents.
What is
the recommended dosage of Vitälzym?
The recommended
dosage to be taken at least 45 minutes prior to or after meals
is 3 capsules, once a day. However, since each individual is
different, a higher or lower dosage may be appropriate for each
individual. It is important to understand each person's "activation"
dosage. See the information from Dr. Wong on the activation
dosage.
How long
before the Vitälzym takes effect?
It may
depend on the individual's physiological make-up. Everyone is
different. Testimonials from some of our customers reported
positive effects ranging from 3 days to 2 weeks. Taking the
right activation dosage is critical to the success of the product.
What claims
do you make about the effectiveness of Vitälzym?
The FDA
does not allow the nutraceutical industry to make claims about
their products without scientific studies being performed that
substantiate the claims. Our customers can share their experience
with the product but World Nutrition does not make specific
claims.
Are there
any side effects at all with your product?
We currently
have no documented evidence of any adverse side effects based
on the use of Vitälzym. You should not take this product without
the consent of your physician if you are currently taking anti-coagulants,
commonly known as blood thinners. .
Are there
any compatibility issues with other nutraceuticals?
No. In
fact, since vitamins are coenzymes and minerals are cofactors
to enzymes, enzymes are needed in the body for them to be able
to have their full effect. In addition, the vitamins and minerals
assist the enzymes. Thus, systemic enzyme use enhances the effect
of other supplementation programs.
Are there
any compatibility issues with any prescribed drugs?
Yes. Customers
using anti-coagulants, or blood thinners, should not use Vitälzym
without the consent of their physician. The enzymes enhance
the effects of the blood thinning medications making them stronger.
Why do
you call Vitälzym a vegetarian product?
The enzymes
used in Vitälzym are plant derived with no animal products.
This allows everyone, including strict vegetarians, to take
Vitälzym. Some enzyme products use ingredients that are derived
from bovine (cows).
How does
World Nutrition grow their enzymes? Is the process ecologically
safe? Does the process use any chemicals?
The enzymes
in Vitalzym come from two sources; the fruit enzymes along with
the Amla and Rutin are from fruit grown in organic plantations,
and the protease and serrapeptase are lab grown in a protein
(fungus) medium. The enzymes are then extracted from the medium
so that not a trace of fungus is left on the enzyme and the
purity is assured.
What is
serrapeptase and where does it come from?
Serrapeptase
is a powerful proteolytic enzyme. In Japan, Takada sells serrapeptase
as a registered anti-inflammatory medicine under the product
name Dazen. Serrapeptase is laboratory grown
Does weather
affect your product?
Exposure
to heat over 150º for an extended period of time can destroy
the enzymes. Store your Vitälzym in a cool, dry place, with
the lid of the bottle tightly closed.
I just started taking Vitalzym
yesterday. I have Fibromyalgia, have had lower back surgery,
am going to have surgery on my neck for a bulging disk and pain
in my right arm, have had numerous surgeries on my feet and have
had 3 female surgeries. I have headaches on a regular basis
and basically I am always in pain. I took two of the pills
late yesterday afternoon and two more this morning. It is
now 1:00 p.m. and I am virtually pain free. I have not been
pain free in at least 10 years. This is amazing that one combined
pill can do al this.
Thank you for the product.
- C. Feikema, Clarksville, Arkansas
I have suffered
with TMJ disease (Temporo-Mandibular Joint or Jaw Joint) for several
years. I have had laser surgery, physical therapy, and acupuncture
with no relief. I have been unable to sleep and eat at times because
of the pain. Two months ago I started taking Vitalzym and this
week I have no pain and feel better than I have in years.
Thank You
so much for your product. - R. Fowler, Port
Lavaca, TX
"Just
wanted to say thanks for your product, Vitalzym.
I have had
many reports of improvements for various complaints from pains,
to swelling of joints, to Raynaud's... being relieved by Vitalzym.
Two of the
most remarkable were in cardiac patients with claudication of
their legs besides the angina they had. One was getting ozone
treatments with Calcium EDTA chelation and was no longer having
pain at rest. All of his major coronary arteries were completely
occluded and Mayo clinic had tried laser, robotic therapy, rotorutter,...
and for five years running, he had spent over $10,000 for a month
of failed treatments each year. After three weeks of the above
chelation therapy he felt better, but paid a price for exertion.
After a few days on the Vitalzym, as well as chelation and ozone
saunas, he's back hunting, fishing, hiking... with no pain in
his chest or legs.
The other
fella was as bad... with angina at rest and claudication on 15
feet of walking, he, too, had the calcium EDTA and ozone saunas
and was better, but came in today stating the he was able to walk
to the grocery store without having to stop once and didn't even
feel a tinge of pain or fatigue just two days after starting the
Vitalzym.
My hat's off
to your company for such a good response...far better than your
competitor (I dare not refer to the "W" product here).
I will continue to refer patients to you for their products."
Sincerely,
- D. Harper,
MD, Conrad, MT
I am writing
you to thank you for your miracle product, VITALZYM.
In 1945, at
age 6, my friend, Bobbie and I fell into a pocket of radiation
while playing the game Red Rover. We did not know it was radiation
then, but immediately our lungs started burning badly. Betty,
a girl slightly older than us, helped us up. It felt like we had
the wind knocked out of us but it did not go away. Bobbie died
within a few months and Betty died at age 35. I survived, but
had the worst Asthma, and scar tissue on my lungs (and in and
on my organs and throughout my body). I could exert myself for
only 2 or 3 minutes and I would collapse gasping for air. My whole
life since then has been a health nightmare.
I didn't find
out I had been radiated until 1995, fifty years after the fall
into the pocket of Iodine 131. The release was 650,000 curries
of Iodine 131. After raining, the moisture caused the pocket to
form.
I am now 63
and had been referred to as 'death warmed over' since 1996, because
the medical community did not have a category for my medical problem.
Just one month ago, I took what I thought was my last trip to
my Doctor. He let me list my medical maladies and then said, "your
body is full of scar tissue, right? So, take this new product
and thank the man upstairs, because it eats scar tissue, and it
is a miracle."
I now have
increased lung function by 25%, virtually no pain, can walk with
my wife, walk two flights of stairs without getting winded, and
feel better every day!
How can I
thank you for this miracle? Maybe by helping others understand
that this miracle product can help all people feel better, because
fibrin is caused by aging and is formed after injury or illness.
Thank you
for my miracle. - P. Heineman, Wilkesboro, NC
I have suffered
for many years with severe allergies and continual back pain from
injuries sustained while serving in the armed forces as a helicopter
pilot during the Viet Nam Conflict. I started taking VITALZYM
daily in January and by March all but the mildest symptoms of
my allergies have disappeared and I have had no back pain. I can
now enjoy playing golf pain free and allergy free. I highly recommend
VITALZYM as part of one's daily nutritional regimen.

President, The Marketing Group, Scottsdale, AZ
I find it
difficult to describe how wonderful I feel ! In December I was
a kidney donor. Of course I was extremely uncomfortable. I was
on the way to recovery when in March I got the flu. I do not have
enough hands to cough and sneeze, and felt as bad after the flu
as I had in January. My boss suggested Vitalzym and I was not
convinced it would help, but decided to try it. It is amazing!!!
After only one and one half days I realized I felt much better.
I had taken Vitalzym for about three weeks when I started wondering
if I had just actually recovered and didn't really need the Vitalzym.
I stopped taking it for only about one half of one day when I
realized how good it is.
This last
weekend (the middle of May) I worked almost like it was before
the surgery. I got so much done it was scary. Thank you for finding
the answer to my problem. You have a wonderful product and you
won't find the day when it is not a part of my medicine cabinet.
A side note.
I gave a bottle of Vitalzym to a good friend after her knee surgery
and she not only quit taking pain medicine she had a prescription
for, she quit taking Tylenol. You should also tell people that
Vitalzym is good for black eyes also. A friend of mine got a shiner
on Monday and needed to look good for a convention on Friday and
with the help of a lot of Vitalzym, she looked normal with no
makeup on Friday. She was amazed at how quickly it worked for
her.
- H. Herrell, Regional Sales, Palko Distributing
"Last
week I received a sample bottle of Vitalzym. I heard about it
when you sent me a cassette tape. I hardly ever listen to those,
but I was just going on a long drive when it came, and decided
to listen on the way. I am an acupuncturist and RN, and have been
trying out various enzymes, mostly with very little success. I
got my bottle of Vitalzym in the afternoon, and decided to take
one before going to bed. When I woke up the next morning, I went
down to get my coffee as usual, but I noticed something odd when
coming back up the stairs. My knees didn't hurt. Now I don't normally
have a lot of knee pain, just what I call old age creeping up.
But what made me stop and notice was that I had NO knee pain.
I even walked back down and up the stairs just to make sure. I
kept taking my enzymes that day, and several times went up and
down the stairs just to make sure I wasn't hurting. Now, a few
days later, still no knee pain and my chronic low back pain is
about half of normal. Can it really be that one pill knocked out
my knee pain??? If so, this really is fairy dust. I have several
of my patient's trying Vitalzym. Can't wait to see the results!"
- C. McKenna, Los Osos, CA
"I think
your Vitalzym is a fantastic product! I have heard that it is
good for inflammation and yesterday (Father's Day Eve) I was in
the perfect situation to test it.
My husband and I were sitting on the sofa playing with our beautiful
and vivacious 18-month old son. It was past his bedtime and he
was a bit rambunctious. After several minutes of tickling his
tummy and the bottoms of his feet, it happened! He was sitting
on my lap when he decided to try a back flip. He pushed off my
legs and threw himself backwards (head first). I guess he was
in my "straight-on blind spot" because I never saw him
coming. The next thing I knew, the back of his head smashed into
my nose. I felt and heard something crunch and the pain was incredible.
After the initial shock had passed, we determined the cartilage
in my nose had been ripped off the bone and had torn. But the
bones were somehow still intact. Before I even finished making
the ice pack, my nose, cheeks and eyes were starting to swell.
So, I quickly took 20 Vitalzym Capsules and then spent the better
part of an hour with my nose packed in ice. By the time I retired
for the evening, the external swelling had already disappeared
and there wasn't any internal swelling at all! The next morning,
there was a tiny bit of swelling and my nose and checks had a
nice "rosy" color to them. I took 10 more Vitalzym Capsules
and all of the swelling again disappeared. Plus, the pain and
discomfort was also almost totally gone! I was really concerned
that I would have at least one black eye or a huge black place
across the bridge of my nose, but I didn't have any visible bruising
either!
I shutter to think what kind of swelling I might have had and
for how long, if there had not been any Vitalzym in my house.
I attribute the total lack of internal and external swelling and
lack of discoloration to the Vitalzym.

Ingredients:
Vitalzym
is natural. It contains no animal derivatives, artificial flavors,
artificial colors, yeast or gluten. Vitalzym
is also lactose free and contains no harmful talc.
The term "proteolytic"
refers to all enzymes that digest protein. Other classes of enzymes
include Amylase a digestive enzyme that breaks down carbohydrates
and Lipase a digestive enzyme that breaks down fat during the digestive
process. Each of these help in the digestion of food which in turn
helps with absorption of those essential nutrients in the diet.
In the body, proteolytic digestive enzymes are produced in the pancreas,
but supplemental forms of enzymes may come from fungal or bacterial
sources, extraction from the pancreas of livestock animals (trypsin/chymotrypsin)
or extraction from plants (such as papain from the papaya and Bromelain
from pineapples). The primary uses of proteolytic enzymes in dietary
supplements are used as digestive enzymes, anti-inflammatory agents
and pain relievers.
There are a
number of clinical trials showing the benefit of using oral proteolytic
enzymes as a digestive aid. Proteolytic enzymes are also theorized
to help reduce symptoms of food allergies and as a treatment for
rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases
Perhaps the
strongest evidence for benefits of proteolytic enzyme supplements
come from numerous European studies showing various enzyme blends
to be effective in accelerating recovery from exercise and injury
in sportsmen as well as tissue repair in patients following surgery.
In one study of footballers suffering from ankle injuries, proteolytic
enzyme supplements accelerated healing and got players back on the
field about 50% faster than athletes assigned to receive a placebo
tablet(1). A handful of other small trials
in athletes have shown enzymes can help reduce inflammation, speed
healing of bruises and other tissue injuries (including fractures)
and reduce overall recovery time when compared to athletes taking
a placebo(2-8). In patients recovering from
facial and various reconstructive surgeries, treatment with proteolytic
enzymes significantly reduced swelling, bruising and stiffness compared
to placebo groups (9-11).
Serrapeptase
Serrapeptase,
also known as Serratia peptidase, is a proteolytic enzyme isolated
from the non-pathogenic enterobacteria Serratia E15. The enzyme
is found naturally in the intestine of the silkworm, which is used
by the silkworm to dissolve the cocoon and emerge as a moth. When
consumed in unprotected tablets or capsules, the enzyme is destroyed
by acid in the stomach. However, when enterically coated the enzyme
passes through the stomach unchanged, and can be absorbed in the
intestine.
It has many
clinical uses including: as an anti-inflammatory agent (particularly
for post traumatic swelling), or
Fibrocystic breast disease, or
Bronchitis (Serrapeptase loosens and expels mucous).
Serrapeptase digests dead tissue, blood clots, cysts, and arterial
plaque. The late German physician Dr. Hans Nieper, used serrapeptase
to treat arterial blockage in his coronary patients. Clinical studies
show that serrapeptase induces fibrinolytic, anti-inflammatory and
anti-edemic (prevents swelling and fluid retention) activity in
a number of tissues, and that its anti-inflammatory effects are
superior to other proteolytic enzymes(12).
Besides reducing inflammation, one of serrapeptase's most profound
benefits is reduction of pain, due to its ability to block the release
of pain-inducing amines from inflamed tissues(13)
Physicians throughout Europe and Asia have recognized the anti-inflammatory
and pain-blocking benefits of this naturally occurring substance
and are using it in treatment as an alternative to salicylates,
ibuprofen, and other NSAIDs(14).
Bromelain
& Papain
Both Bromelain
and Papain are plant derived proteolytic enzymes. Bromelain, also
known as bromelin, is a protein-digesting enzyme extracted from
the flesh and stem of the pineapple plant, Ananas comosus.
Papain, is a proteolytic enzyme isolated from the papaya plant,
Carica papaya. Bromelain is most notable for its effectiveness
in the reduction of inflammation and decreasing swelling, but the
scope of its benefits continues to increase. As a natural anti-inflammatory
enzyme, bromelain has many uses. Arthritis patients may reduce the
swelling that causes joint pain by taking bromelain. Bromelain may
also be helpful for the pain, numbness, tingling, aching, and loss
of motor and sensory function in the fingers resulting from carpal
tunnel syndrome (CTS) (15,16). Prevention
of the adhesiveness of platelets to endothelial cell walls was accomplished
with 0.1 mcg/ml of Bromelian(16a). Thus the
benefit of bromelain occurs over a broad range of doses, and even
small amounts may be beneficial to anyone at risk to thrombotic
heart attack or stroke. Papain has been shown to be effective in
preventing burn wound infection and helping remove dead cells(17).
Papain is also used for the following:
Defibrinating
wounds in hospitals
Preventing
cornea scar deformation
Used in treatments
of jellyfish and insect stings
To treat edemas,
inflammatory processes, and in the acceleration of wound healing
In low doses
as an indigestion medicine
Papain has been
used to treat ulcers, dissolve membranes in diphtheria and reduce
swelling, fever and adhesions after surgery.
Amla
Also known as
Indian gooseberry (Emblica officinalis) is the richest source
of Vitamin C. It also contains tannic acid, glucose, protein, cellulose
and Calcium. Amla is useful for stomach problems, it is antipyretic,
hair tonic and nerve brain tonic. It's also useful in anemia, hyperacidity
and in gynecological problems and epistaxis. Amla is considered
to have restorative and preventive properties.
Rutin
Is one of the
many existing Flavonoids. Flavonoids are a class of water-soluble
plant pigments. Flavonoids support health by strengthening capillaries
and other connective tissue, and some function as anti-inflammatory,
antihistaminic, and antiviral agents. Rutin and several other flavonoids
may also protect blood vessels. Rutin was shown to stimulate wound
healing in rats and augment the tensile strength of scar tissue
significantly(18).
